The English word “love” has many different meanings. It can have affectionate, benevolent, strong liking, romantic, or sexual implications. i’ve read a few of these definition, sadly it’s not enough….

“Love involves a peculiar unfathomable
combination of understanding and
misunderstanding.”
–Diane Arbus

“Today I begin to understand what
love must be, if it exists. When we
are parted, we each feel the lack of
the other half of ourselves. We are
incomplete like a book in two volumes
of which the first has been lost.
That is what I imagine love to be:
incompleteness in absence.”

–Goncourt

“You come to love not by finding
the perfect person, but by seeing
an imperfect person perfectly. ”
–Sam Keen

“Love is a gift of one’s
inner most soul to another
so both can be whole ”
–Tea Rose

“Love has its own time,
its own season, and its own
reasons from coming and going.
You cannot bribe it or coerce
it or reason it into staying.
You can only embrace it when
it arrives and give it away when
it comes to you. ”
–Kent Nerburn

see? something’s missing… if you read the verse from the bible,1 Corinthians 13:4-8, 13, you’d understand what i’m saying.

Love is patient; love is kind;
love is not envious or boastful or arrogant
or rude. It does not insist on its own way;
it is not irritable or resentful;
it does not rejoice in wrongdoing,
but rejoices in the truth.
It bears all things,
believes all things,
hopes all things,
endures all things.
Love never ends.
But as for prophecies,
they will come to an end;
as for tongues, they will cease;
as for knowledge,
it will come to an end…
And now faith, hope, and love abide,
these three; and the greatest of these
is love.

complete and beautiful definition, right?
