The Lord Listens

Last night I was praying for my mom’s health. She had been to the hospital for 8 days last 2nd week of this month and the doctor said she needed to undergo an operation. Aside from that, she also needed 4 bags of packed red blood cells; it would have been easy but her blood type was RH negative and it’s really rare. With a lot of prayers and help from friends and relatives we were able to obtain 3 bags of PRBC. Now, she chose not to undergo the operation because she felt that she needed to get a 2nd opinion from another doctor (we felt that the first doctor only wanted to operate on her to get more money out of us) This doctor was insisting that my mom undergo the operation even WITHOUT a cardio-pulmonary clearance from the cardiologist.

Yesterday, she was feeling weak again, she had to go another doctor and I am worried sick the whole time. And as I said, I prayed last night and cried out all my worries to our Lord Jesus. After that, I opened my bible on a random page, not expecting any signs from Jesus but just wanting him to guide me. I was surprised  that I opened the bible to the book of Matthew chapters 6 to 8, and these are the words that made an impact on me.

“Do Not Worry,”

Matthew 6:25

“Ask, Seek, Knock”

Matthew 7:7

 “Jesus Heals Many”.

Matthew 8:14

After reading these phrases, there’s no more heaviness inside me. All I know is, I just have to trust in Him.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”

                                                Psalm 46:10

BEARD PAPA’S CREAM PUFFS

It’s been a long time since I saw this shop inside the famous mall here. Before they had their own shop at the ground floor of that mall; displaying the big cream puffs by the glass window. Why was I interested in cream puffs anyway? It all started when I watched the J-dramaABSOLUTE BOYFRIEND’, starring Hayami Mokomichi. https://bokutoupdtokyo.wordpress.com/2011/03/04/%E3%81%9C%E3%81%A3%E3%81%9F%E3%81%84%E3%81%8B%E3%82%8C%E3%81%97-zettai-kareshi%E3%80%80%EF%BC%88absolute-boyfriend/    –   my blog about Absolute Boyfriend.  His love interest, Aibu Saki made some pretty good cream puffs. I tried making them twice using a recipe I found in the internet. And I have to say, I still need more practice. And up until now, I never attempted to make them again  >_<.  Then there were also the ‘pseudo’ cream puffs I saw at the grocery, packed in a small box. The name of the product is Monde Tee Up Cream Puffs. I eagerly got two boxes. Since it was a small box, I expected only bite sized puffs. But I had high expectations with this product since it was ‘promoted’ by this famous food magazine. I’m actually disappointed with the cream puffs; the texture was just like a cheese puff (think Cheese curls, cheese balls and corn curls, yeah…all those corn puffed snacks with cheese flavoring, that is exactly the texture of this ‘pseudo’ puffs) but this one was hollowed out to make space for the custard filling (which was almost dry). To make things short, I was really disappointed. Here is the link to a blog where there is an actual specifications to the product as well as pictures:  http://www.junkfoodie.com/tee-up-cream-puffs-custard-cream-flavor.htm

The paper bag from Beard Papa's

Beard papa is a cream puff store which originated in Japan and has more than 250 branches and 300 stores worldwide. (from Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beard_Papa’s ) I will not say more here as I will be reiterating what was stated in Wikipedia, so I do hope you click on the link if you wish to know more about this famous cream puff store.

Going back to the first authentic cream puff I’ve tasted, (which is Beard Papa’s,) they were selling two flavors for the regular cream puffs, the one I bought was vanilla. Each puff is almost, if not as big as a baseball, all displayed in a glass shelf. Each puff is sold for P50 (at least $1.16), and I think it was P55 ($1.27) for the chocolate dipped puffs. When you buy a cream puff, that’s the only time they will put the custard inside with the help of a machine (just like putting cream inside donuts) I have to say there is an exact measurement for the custard inside the puffs and the sales lady isn’t making a guess if the puff is already filled or not. After putting the custard, they will dust the puff with confectioner’s sugar, and put it in individual paper bags.

I wouldn’t say it was heaven the first time I made a bite into it, but I was satisfied. Yes, word for the day is satisfied.

Vanilla custard cream puff from Beard Papa's

I was actually expecting a much sweeter, custard but I was surprised to know that it was just mildly sweet. I guess this is how pastries taste in Japan. I am now reminded of the desserts in Dezaa-to Pan, the sweetness in their pastries is almost the same. https://bokutoupdtokyo.wordpress.com/2011/05/25/triple-chocolate-mousse-from-deza-to-pan-2/ – my blog about Deza-to Pan.  BUT the custard really filled the puff. I mean there is not much air left inside. Trust me, on my second bite, the custard was overflowing already. I wish I can show a picture of the puff sliced in half so you can see the overflowing filling, but it will really be messy.

Now, instead of a store it is more than just a stall located inside the mall. Much accessible, if I may say so. Satisfied? Yes. Worth the money? Yes. Does it satiate hunger? Yes. I will definitely go back and try another flavor of that cream puff.

TRANSFORMERS 3 Dark of the Moon; WHY DID YOU WATCH IT?

It’s been the talk of the town the past few days since its opening. Did you watch it because you wanted to be ‘in’, when your friends talk about the highlights of the movie? I watched it because it’s TRANSFORMERS 3, period.

I’ve watched the first movie until the third installment. Yes, I am a fan of the ROBOTS and NOT Megan Fox. I just hate it when people say (especially guys) they will not watch part 3 because Megan Fox isn’t there anymore. Why? Is Megan Fox the star of the movie? No! She is only a supporting character! You’d probably think that I’m only saying this because I’m a girl and that Megan Fox doesn’t attract my attention. She did. I openly admit that she’s beautiful, or as you guys put it – HOT! I watched the movie because of the ROBOTS – that’s reason #1.

I watch the movie because it’s one of my favorite cartoons when I was a kid. I still remember Autobots and Decepticons fighting over Energon cubes, Starscream being a traitor to Megatron most of the time and Megatron transforms into a gun; oh, and when Bumblebee was still a yellow VOLKSWAGEN. This is reason #2.

Reason #3: Shia Labeouf. I’m a fan too. I’ve watched him since his ‘EVEN STEVENS’ days on Disney channel. I loved him on DISTURBIA, but not so much on EAGLE EYE. But still, I love Shia. There’s just something about him that is…can I say enigmatic? I don’t know if that’s the right word but I’ll say it again, I like him as an actor.

Reason #4: The hot cars. It’s like Fast and Furious but the cars transform into robots. How cool can you get?

Some violent reactions about the movie:

  1. I like the new girl – Rosie Huntington-Whitely. Quite a long name to remember but it’s one way to make her stand out. She’s a fresh addition to the movie other than more destructive robots, hehe! I hope she does not become another Megan Fox.
  2. Patrick Dempsey, you are so EVIL! Dr. McDreamy in his very surprising evil role. How could you do that to mankind?! And how could you lay your hands on Sam Witwicky?
  3. How can robots have human-like acting now?! What I mean is, they get HURT, they feel PAIN. Transformers 1 & 2 didn’t showcase robots like that…but when I saw Starscream going all over the place because Sam shot his eye, I had my eyebrows raised. They are robots; they are made of steel and are not supposed to feel any sort of pain! Another thing. They seem to be drooling. Laserbeak does that, and other robots too. That’s probably just oil but it’s a big WHY for me.
  4. до свидания (do svidaniya) – that means goodbye! Seymour Simmons, the former Sector 7 agent really cracks me up with his antics. The Russian line he said made everyone in the movie house laugh like crazy.
  5. Shockwave is a badass Decepticon. He could have taken over the whole planet by himself if he wanted to.

And another thing about Megan Fox – some years ago, I’ve read somewhere that she complained about her not getting much time on screen with the Transformers movie, and that she cannot showcase her acting if the movie focuses more on the robots who aren’t exactly there while they are filming. DUH! What’s the title of the movie again? TRANSFORMERS! How dumb can you get?! I forgot, she really is dumb. Why? In an interview, she admitted that “she hated school and has never been “a big believer in formal education” and that “the education I was getting seemed irrelevant”  (from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megan_Fox)

And then this:

The website/link above contains a letter by three staff from the movie Transformers who got to work with Megan Fox. They did NOT like here at all! They all wrote about the real Megan Fox on the set. Yeah, I have to say I’m an anti-Megan Fox now. I don’t care how hot she is, I care about the movie.

Do you think there will be a part 4? Let’s cross our fingers.

It’s been a while…

I know I haven’t updated my blog yet, but I promise to do it soon. As soon as the exams are over (yes, 10 years after graduating in college I am back to school again) so most probably after the exams I’ll go back to writing again. Now I need my cup of coffee…
